When you hear the name Hewlett-Packard, you might immediately think of printers and laptops. And with good reason HP has been a leading manufacturer of these products for decades. But the company’s origins go back much further. In 1939, two Stanford University students, Bill Hewlett and Dave Packard, started HP in a small garage in Palo Alto, California. With an initial investment of just $538, they began producing electronic testing equipment and other products. Over the years, HP continued to grow and innovate, releasing its first audio oscillator in 1939 and its first commercial computer, the HP 2000, in 1966.
