Better with Age
Hey, Im Taylor, a 23-year-old blogger, and today Im diving into a topic that I think gets tossed around a lot but has some really interesting layers to itbetter with age. Why are people searching for this phrase Maybe its curiosity about getting older and wiser, or even about why some things (and people!) just improve as the years go by. I mean, why does the idea of something getting better with age fascinate us so much Maybe youre thinking of wine, wisdom, or even that favorite leather jacket thats just getting cooler. Whatever it is, Im here to break down what better with age really means and why it might just apply to all of us in ways we hadnt considered.
We often think of better with age as a way to describe qualities that develop over timecharacter, skills, or even confidence. Just think about TikTok and mental health awareness. Five or ten years ago, we didnt have this huge online space where people were openly talking about mental health. Now, with TikTok therapists normalizing everything from anxiety to boundary-setting, were seeing a shift in how people handle their own growth. So, in a way, mental health awareness has also gotten better with ageits more accepted and openly discussed than ever before. And thats something I believe can happen with any part of us. The question isnt whether we can get better with time; its how we choose to grow along the way.
So, if youre reading this and thinking, Can I actually become better with age The answer is YES! Here are a few examples of things that improve over time and how they relate to that idea
- Self-confidence With experience, we learn to trust ourselves more. Just like that time I was cosplaying as Nezuko and felt totally self-assured strutting around Anime Expo. Confidence is a journey, and with age, we just get better at it.
- Perspective The more life experiences we have, the more empathy and understanding we gain. I’ve seen this working at Disneyland, dealing with people from all walks of life. Over time, your viewpoint broadens, and you find it easier to connect with others.
- Creativity Just like a well-used notebook or a seasoned artists brush, creativity can deepen with time. Writing this blog with my friend Lillywho I met at Anime Expo, by the wayhas shown me that inspiration doesnt always come instantly. Instead, it builds with each idea, each post.
So, whats the takeaway Better with age doesnt just apply to fine wine or vintage cars. Its about becoming more comfortable with who we are and embracing the changes that time brings. Its about learning that were enough, that weve got something special to offer, and that our experiences add depth to our lives.
